Nipan Oranniwesna

Bangkok / Nova Contemporary

An established and influential artist, Nipan Oranniwesna (b.1962, Thailand) works through painting, sculpture, mixed media, site-specific installation, photography and video works to investigate the relationship between human and territory in both psychical and conceptual ideas. Oranniwesna’s sociopolitical approach combined historical and cultural content to explore the conceptions of space, urban cartography and the geo-body of nation/state. Oranniwesna is appreciated for his unmistakably distilled and contemplative installations that deal with concepts of home, identity, and displacement.

Oranniwesna earned a DFA  from Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music, Tokyo, Japan, an MFA from Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music, Japan, and a BFA from Silpakorn University, Bangkok, Thailand. Oranniwesna’s works were included in major international exhibitions across the Asia-Pacific area and beyond.

Nipan will be presenting his works at Nova Contemporary.
