Piyarat Piyapongwiwat

Piyarat Piyapongwiwat (b. 1977, Phrae, TH) is a multidisciplinary artist working in a variety of media, including video, photography and installation work. Her practice centers on documentation as a method of exposing and questioning social issues and the conditions and implications of our globalized economy. Her work often acts not only as a method of record keeping, but also functions to map our interconnected world through the voices of individuals. Piyarat holds a BFA from Ecole Supérieure des Beaux-Arts de Montpellier Agglomération, France and was a recipient of the Japan Foundation Asia Center Fellowship Program in 2017. She has presented works internationally, including at the 6th Asian Art Biennial, Taiwan (2017); the 12th Gwangju Biennale (2018) and Art Stage, Singapore (2016). Her work is held in collections of institutions including Singapore Art Museum, MAIIAM Contemporary Art Museum and Bangkok Art and Culture Centre and in private collections.
