About the Artist
Trương Tân (b.1963) is most well-known for his works that confront social conventions and explore themes of identity and freedom of expression. His oeuvre of paintings, drawings, performances, installations, sculptural and ceramic works incorporate challenges to traditional Vietnamese societal prejudices, often autobiographically from his own experience. Tân graduated from the University of Fine Art Hanoi in 1989 before teaching there as a lecturer upon graduation until 1997. Now living between Paris and Hanoi, Tân’s work has been collected most notably by Post Vidai, the Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation, and the Fukuoka Museum.
