Inside the Studio with Mit Jai Inn

Mit Jai Inn’s works often cross the boundaries between painting and sculpture in conjunction with the aesthetics and the socio-political reactions appearing as hybrid objects or projects. His studio presents a dynamic range of materials, from rounded thick chunks of self-made oil-based color to canvases that mostly take the form of two-sided screens which are displayed and installed in various forms: hung, rolled, folded, and even woven. The repetitive and intentional motion of adding decades-old layers of paint, which he revives with linseed oil, creates a textured dimension to the surface and at the same time causes what lies beneath to emerge.
