INTO AIR by Dawn Ng
26 January 2021 - 21 February 2021
Sullivan+Strumpf is delighted to present the gallery’s first pop-up exhibition in Singapore, INTO AIR by Dawn Ng, curated by Tan Siuli. INTO AIR is the artist’s latest body of work that primarily deals with time and death as time possesses great beauty and worth in the absence of eternity – that is why much of Dawn’s practice deals with “holding on” to certain moments. The series started out as a benign curiosity about the holding of time in an ephemeral object like ice. Its metamorphosis from solid to liquid to air, reflects both the arresting presence and passage of cyclical time. Through this series, Dawn sought to capture time in a re-imagined form. Dawn has always felt that the way in which we process or measure time, via a cold series of numbers — years, days, hours, minutes and seconds — is antithetical to the true nature of time, which is emotional and elastic.
