Join us for an exclusive virtual tour of three of Museum MACAN’s current exhibitions – “Stories Across Rising Lands”, “Semesta dan Angan / Multiverses and Dreams: Selections from the Collection of Museum MACAN”, and “Melati Suryodarmo: Why Let the Chicken Run”. Curators Asep Topan, Asri Winata and Jeong-ok Jeon will be introducing in more detail the artists, artworks and curatorial premises, along with the intricacies of museological operations amidst pandemic restrictions.

About the speakers
Asep Topan is a Curator at Museum MACAN (the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Nusantara). He is a Master’s graduate of Art Management and Curatorship in Institut Teknologi Bandung (Bandung Institute of Technology) and a Fine Arts undergraduate at Institut Kesenian Jakarta (Jakarta Institute of Arts). He worked as a Vice Director of Jakarta Biennale (2016-18), and has collectively and individually participated in numerous exhibitions, public programs and long-term art projects, including the de Appel Curatorial Program, Amsterdam (2015-16). He is a lecturer at Institut Kesenian Jakarta, focusing on Art Activism.
Asri Winata is an Assistant Curator at Museum MACAN. Graduated from the University of Indonesia in 2012, she earned a Bachelor’s in Humanity, majoring in Japanese studies. Before joining Museum MACAN, she was a Junior Consultant at ISA Art Advisory, a private art consultant in Jakarta working on projects for individuals and corporates. While working at Museum MACAN, she was involved in the exhibitions of Art Turns. World Turns. (2017), Yayoi Kusama: Life is the Heart of a Rainbow (2018), Lee Mingwei: Seven Stories (2018), Pop and Beyond (2018), Matter and Place (2019), Dunia Dalam Berita (2019), Xu Bing: Thought and Method (2019) and Julian Rosefeldt: Manifesto (2020).
Jeong-ok Jeon is a Jakarta-based Korean curator who is actively engaging in Southeast Asian contemporary art, especially working on providing international exposures for regional artists in and outside of Indonesia. With interests in new media and interactive art, she has curated several science and technology based art exhibitions. She has gained an MFA from Savannah College of Art and Design in the US and a BFA from Ewha Womans University in Korea. Now Jeon serves as the director at ARCOLABS and a full-time lecturer at Visual Art Education Department of Jakarta State University (UNJ).
