#SEAspotlight: Bali — Filippo Sciascia

This week’s #SEAspotlight brings us to Bali, Indonesia, where the dynamic art landscape is diverse and constantly evolving. We visit Italian artist Filippo Sciascia at his lush garden studio in Ubud where he has resided for the past 20 years. He shares his philosophy and influences, and how the Balinese culture and community inspires his practice.

“The Balinese have very much a sense of working with the hands and making something artistic out of everything…They have this sense of aesthetic, so interlocked—it’s a part of their lives. It goes hand in hand with an artist.”
