This print delves into the complexities of human existence in the modern world. Using a metaphor of humanity plagued by materialism and cutthroat competition, the artwork portrays a society alienated from nature and suffocated by the concrete jungle of towering skyscrapers. Human figures are depicted striving to climb above one another, driven by a relentless pursuit of recognition and success. However, amidst the chaos and frenzy of competition, the artwork poses profound questions symbolised by the towering question marks at the top of the print – Why? And is it all worth it? Through this powerful imagery, Chng prompts viewers to reflect on the deeper meaning of love, connection and fulfilment in a world consumed by ambition and greed.
